Chef Lino Sauro
It may seem surprising for some, but Lino Sauro, one of the top chefs in Singapore specializing in Sicilian cuisine, spent a good 10 years of his life not having an ounce of liking for his profession.
Born in Sicily (South of Italy), young Lino started cooking at the age of 15. To him then, it was simply an occupation which would get him out of the house and enable him to do what he loved best – travelling.
His work subsequently brought him all around the world where he had the opportunity to work with top chefs – some of whom were awarded the sought-after Michelin-star. With an insatiable penchant for further knowledge, he also delved deep into various food subjects by exchanging pointers with fellow chefs and reading a wide range of culinary books. This is why Chef Lino likes to call himself a "self-taught" chef. Through these exposures, he gained invaluable experiences and deeper insights into the culinary world and started to develop an appreciation and love for the art of cooking.
Lino then went on to become the Head Chef of fine dining "Capannina" restaurant at the 4-star Hotel & Resort Du Lac et du Park in Northern Italy– where he continued to redefine his cooking style. In 2006, determined to broaden his culinary horizon, he came to Singapore and was soon asked to be the Resident Chef of DOMVS in Sheraton Towers, where he implemented a menu that provided an authentic taste of his native Sicily.
Helming the kitchen of Gattopardo, Chef Lino now showcases an innovative menu featuring Mediterranean cuisine using the freshest top quality ingredients prepared with minimum fuss. He is no doubt excited about putting his culinary experiences to good use and bring out the best of Southern Italian cuisine to Singaporeans with lots of Sicilian sizzle!
